We started Blubirch to solve for absence of trust and lack of technology in the reverse supply chain, which we believe continues to minimize negative environmental impact. This happens by way of extending the life of products and positively impacting the bottom line of retailers/OEMs.
A key aspect is to enhance users’ trust in second life products. As this disconnection between sellers and buyers for second life inventory has been resulting in unwarranted waste creation and loss of value.
Therefore, Blubirch embodies both of these elements — Trust and Extended Life. It is a combination of two words — the blue color and the birch tree. The blue color has always been used to represent trust and hence the “Blu” of Blubirch. While the birch tree has always indicated new life. In the event of a forest fire, the birch tree is one of the first trees to come back to life. Legend has it that in medieval times, the birch tree was used for purification rituals, and for cleansing purposes. We do the same to products in the reverse supply chain and hence the “birch” of Blubirch.
